Want to make a difference?
Do you love the theatre? Would you like to support the work of an award-winning non-profit theatre, community center, and educational institution that teaches innovative educational techniques and theatre principles to adults and children from all walks of life; produces classical and contemporary plays and documentary films that maintain the highest artistic standards; and develops new dramatic works that examine social issues? If so, help write about this organization’s operations, diverse programming, and accomplishments to potential participants, existing and potential donors, corporate partners, media outlets, and/or other audiences; edit videos for marketing purposes; or support their human resources team by completing administrative tasks, conducting outreach, and/or onboarding new volunteers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these are all remote opportunities (though there is some in-person optionality for those interested).Guess what?! There are even more great opportunities for volunteers 55 and older in all 5 boroughs!

Mission Statement
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
Description
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
