Want to make a difference?
Want to help fellow adults hone the vital math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and/or other skills they need to get by in today’s world? Whether you think you can assist them with one or all, you can make a difference in their lives by helping them to study for the TASC (formerly GED) test or CUNY (Accuplacer) entrance exam. Please note that most, if not all, of these opportunities have been entirely remote during the pandemic, but that may be changing; accordingly, if you would prefer to serve in-person, feel free to check if that has become an option.Guess what?! There are even more great opportunities for volunteers 55 and older in all 5 boroughs!

Mission Statement
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
Description
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
