At Downtown Streets Team, we provide work experience for folks who are experiencing or at risk for homelessness. Our Team Members volunteer to beautify their community in exchange for basic needs stipends, case management and employment support to help them reach their goals.
After working daily street-cleaning shifts from 8am-11:30am, our Team Members are always hungry and often don't have reliable access to healthy, filling meals. Having food waiting for them when they get off of shift can be a huge burden lifted off of their shoulders, as well as an important reminder that their work is valued and appreciated by community members.
We are hoping to have more members of the community get involved with Downtown Streets Team by providing these meals. If you are interested, please email sarah@streetsteam.org to coordinate food delivery. Be sure to bring enough food for 25 individuals. Because of COVID, we ask that these meals be individually portioned before you come. Please bring the food to the Redwood City Public Library at 11:30am on the day that you choose to provide meals.

Downtown Streets Team's mission is to build Teams that restore dignity, inspire hope, and provide a pathway to recover from homelessness. Team Members volunteer their time to help beautify their community, and in exchange for their work they receive employment specialist and case management services to help them meet their goals, as well as a non-cash stipend to help them cover basic needs as they get back on their feet. We believe that the dignity our Teams provide is a powerful tool to motivate Team Members to be a part of their own solution. In the words of one of our Team Members, DST is a win-win-win situation: it's a win for the Team Member, a win for the community, and a win for the environment.
