SBAVP is getting ready to relaunch our workshops in conflict management skills, and we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as facilitators!
How to know if this role may be right for you:
You have taken (or are willing to take) AVP Basic and Advanced Weekend Workshops, as well as AVP Facilitator Training (a total of 60 hours plus apprenticing)
You’re eager to expand your interpersonal skills
You have a passion for engaging with the community and learning with others!

Note: You do not have to live in the area to take a workshop there, because all workshops are currently virtual! Our workshops are similar no matter where you take them. :) We will welcome you in Santa Barbara to facilitate with youth when we are ready to open workshops outdoors.

Who is SBAVP?
The Santa Barbara Alternatives to Violence Project is a multicultural volunteer organization that is dedicated to reducing interpersonal violence in our society, exploring different ways of handling conflict, and bringing people together as we seek to better understand one another. SBAVP has offered laughter-filled community workshops in Santa Barbara since 1992. We also offer workshops at the Lompoc Federal Prison! SBAVP is part of AVP California, AVP USA, and AVP International.
SBAVP offers workshops that aid participants in discovering new conflict management tools, learning about relationships and communication, and building leadership skills, thus enabling individuals to:
Build successful interpersonal interactions
Reflect and gain deeper insights into themselves
Find positive, new approaches to life
These experiential workshops empower individuals not only to liberate themselves from the burden of violence, but also to become leaders in their communities.
