We are an organization based on a practice called Focusing, which is a form of reflective listening which one can use to live more fully, bringing one's whole self to one's intellectual and emotional life.

So far in our history, we have always had board members only from within the community of people who practice Focusing. However, we are a small community, and there are certain skills that are in somewhat short supply within our ranks. Many of the members of our community are in helping professions, and haven't necessarily had a lot of experience serving on US non-profit boards. So having someone who has had some experience on other boards and can bring that perspective would be useful. Also useful would be people who have experience in fundraising and budgeting.

We are a very friendly and warm community, and our board meetings are efficiently run. We meet on Zoom every month for a 2-hour meeting.

The right person would have some background in listening skills, mindfulness or meditation. These kinds of practices are akin to Focusing. If you've developed skills to pause and listen, and to express yourself with kindness and respect, this is an essential quality that would make you a good fit. We are an international community, and so sensitivity to diversity in culture and language is important to us.
