Before COVID, the young people of Garden Court would be able to come into the community room in the office, work on their homework and engage in the daily enrichment projects. With COVID, we have had to make some adjustments. The programming is online, the kids can only interact virtually, and some of the activities have had to be adjusted or cut.
Here's where YOU come in. Because of the different grade levels, some young people need assistance with different things. However, as only one person, even with the use of break-out rooms, I am not able to assist everyone. I need someone to be able to supervise some kids while I work with other ones, and be able to continue to assist them in gaining their skills in Leadership, Social-Emotional learning, and academic achievement.
You will be assisting in helping run program activities, assisting with reading comprehension questions, games, and behavior management, while getting to know some amazing young people.
You will also be attending virtual trainings with the Denver Afterschool Alliance, so that you can continuously work on the fundamentals, while staying updated on the current brain science around youth learning and development.
Most importantly, though, you'll have some fun!
Especially during these times, this is very life-changing work, and I appreciate you for stepping up and wanting to perform.
