We are looking for a committed individual to assist with our new drumline which serves girls and boys ages 12 to 18. New coaches would be joining now and working with either or NY line (which will serve girls only) or our NJ lines (one team each for boys and girls). The NY and NJ teams will collaborate often. You would be joining NOW and working with our current instructional team in planning for the next season which will begin in August or September. As of this writing, the team is only working virtually.

As leader of the drumline, your responsibilities would be as follows -

1. Instruct and rehearse percussion parts to beginners/experienced students.
2. Develop and teach cadences for marching playing at performing and competitive events.
3. Work closely with other drumline instructors around activities and performances.
4. Help struggling musicians as needed.

Extensive percussion experience is required with marching band experience strongly preferred. Paramount to this position is commitment to the young people who are part of the line. Previous experience with teaching percussion is preferred but not required. Must have strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills and be able to work effectively with other line instructors, parents and young people. A sense of humor is critical.

Next season - when the team returns, we anticipate returning to our original studio is Rahway, NJ.

Interested candidates are asked to respond to this opportunity or email soulphamm.org@gmail.com with their experience and availability. Current high school students with drumline experience can be considered as Coaching Assistants.
