The Connected Chef is looking for volunteers to help pack and prepare grocery packages for delivery.

Details:
- A small team of volunteers packs the bulk dry goods (rice, beans, pasta) into individual-sized bags.
- This work is done in Long Island City at 49-09 5th Street, LIC
- The location is outdoors in a parking lot. There is some shade, but also some sun exposure, so dress appropriately for outdoor weather conditions. Boots or sneakers are recommended. Please dress warm for the Winter with gloves and a hat.
Due to the spread of COVID19, safety protocols and procedures will be extremely tight.
- Masks and gloves are required at all times, and handwashing and changing gloves is required every 30 minutes. We will have extra masks and gloves on hand if you don’t have them for yourself.
- Spaces are cleaned during the shift and fully sanitized at the end of each day.
- The number of people in rooms will be limited, and social distancing must be practiced when possible.

HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
