Neighborhood House is a leading Portland-non-profit social service provider, delivering innovative, life-changing programs for low-income people of all ages and backgrounds. Our programs strive to prepare children for success in school and life, help families move beyond poverty, and support seniors who wish to continue living independently.

We are seeking food pantry volunteers to help with prepping bulk food deliveries! Neighborhood House has the largest food pantry west of the Willamette. We currently serve the entire metro Portland area as well as parts of Washington County. Since the pandemic, we have nearly tripled the number of individuals we serve in our food pantry.

Volunteers will prepare food boxes to deliver to low-income apartment communities. Bulk prep shifts consist of making anywhere from 10 to 50 food boxes in a two-hour time period. Bulk prep volunteers should:

- be comfortable lifting up to 50+ pounds at time
- loading a box truck
- maneuver a hand cart

AVAILABLE SHIFTS
Weekly:
- Tuesdays 2:30-4:30pm
- Fridays 9:00-11:30am
- Fridays 11:45am-1:45pm

Alternating Weeks:
-Wednesdays 1:00-3:00pm
-Thursdays 2:00-4:00pm

*PLEASE NOTE: As of October 18, 2021, In compliance with the Multnomah County mandate, Neighborhood House requires all in-person volunteers to be fully vaccinated and have submitted proof of vaccination to humanresources@nhpdx.org.

  • Must be at least 16
  • A 2 hour shift weekly or biweekly
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds, prep food boxes, maneuver a hand truck and drive (in your own car) to unload the food boxes.
