Emergency Stand By Volunteers Needed every day! We're looking for volunteers who can be available to help them with things ranging from rides to vet visits, picking up and giving "Freedom Rides" to dogs from shelters (YAY!!!), delivering supplies, doing temperament tests on dogs in shelters, etc... The list goes on and on and we never know what's going to come up, so this is our most crucial volunteer task! This may seem like the least helpful, but actually our stand-bys always save us! We need you!You give us the days and times you are available and we add you to a list, if something comes up (dog walk, vet visit, shelter dog pick-up to save them from being killed) that day- you will be the first one we call. This helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list.If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for any of the above, and almost always requires some driving. We try very hard to plan things in advance, but if there is a last minute opportunity to save a life, get a dog adopted, or a foster emergency, it helps to have a handful of people we reach out to first! Please contact us ASAP if you are interested!
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters the day they are to be euthanized. Our goal is to help provide animals with a second chance to a happy life and to help reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs.
Once rescued, we place our dogs into loving foster homes while they await adoption. We do not keep dogs in kennels. Placing the dogs in foster homes is the first step to rehabilitation, as it allows us to thoroughly evaluate a dog's demeanor and needs, enabling us to make the perfect match of dog and permanent owner. We attribute our high rate of successful placement to our foster program. At Ace of Hearts, we do not discriminate against any breed, including those in the bully breed family. Additionally, Ace of Hearts is dedicated to educating the public on how to be responsible pet owners and on the importance of spaying and neutering. We believe the real solution to pet overpopulation is through spaying and neutering pets.
