ORGANIZATION: Islamorada Area State Parks

Windley Key State Park is looking for local volunteers for a new park docent position. Duties will include speaking with park guests, answering guest questions, giving interpretive talks, and any other visitor services tasks. Interpretation will focus on the history of Windley Key, both its geological history and cultural history. Volunteers will have the opportunity to partake in other volunteer events and park programs. Volunteers are needed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Schedules can be flexible.

Preferred Skills:

  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and friendly
  • Able to work outside in the Florida heat
  • Must be willing to follow FPS Covid standards including social distancing, wearing facial coverings, etc.

This is NOT a resident volunteer position. Local volunteers ONLY.

Our volunteers at the Islamorada Area State Parks play an integral part in maintaining our parks and helping us give the best experiences to our visitors.

Description

The Islamorada Area State Parks encompasses four Florida State Parks and over 10,000 acres of protected lands. Our parks include Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park, Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park, Indian Key Historic State Park, and San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve State Park. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities including guided tour or program leader, park maintenance assistant, ranger station attendant, internships, and more. Our parks provide visitors with unique experiences as they explore the real Florid.
