Looking for someone local who is interested in sewing
Einstein Montgomery Home Care and Hospice
Hello! We are looking for someone who is interested in and able to sew. Right now, we have several requests for memory bears (which are small teddy bears made from the clothing of the deceased person). There is a pattern which we can share with you. We need someone in Norristown or nearby. I would bring the material (and needed supplies, like batting) to your home and pick up the bear(s) when you are done. I am fully vaccinated. There would not be any interaction with any of our patients.
It is my understanding that some people do this as a business but this would strictly be a volunteer opportunity. I very much hope that we can find a few people that are willing to do this. This past year (and some of the next, I'm sure) has been very difficult in regard to funeral services and the help that that brings to the grieving process. It is my hope that memory bears bring some solace.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Mary McCole, LCSW
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
