Advance the Seed is a California-based 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2015 with a desire to change economic outcomes for low to moderate income families and the communities they live in. Poverty continues to be one of the number one issues that negatively impacts children, young adults, and families, often creating barriers to greater life success. We believe that self-awareness and leadership development are key components to developing an individual to seek career pathway opportunities, providing a level of self-sufficiency necessary to break the cycles of poverty that may be generational. We also understand that when financial stability can be realized, it opens the door to many other opportunities that can lead to overall healthier individuals, families and communities.

Description
Advancing The Seed, Inc. (ATS) provides programs for low-to-moderate income (LMI) young adults and women to build pathways to economic mobility. We also provide small business technical assistance to young adults and women choosing entrepreneurship as a path to economic mobility.
Each program has a goal of creating financial stability through access to soft skills training and resources that can lead to greater career opportunities, with sustainable financial outcomes. We partner with other community-based programs, including workforce development programs, to provide career pathway and job readiness wrap around services such as, training, coaching, and mentoring in the areas of leadership development, personal development and life skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurship education, small business development, and digital literacy. Additionally, we work with public and private sector partners to identify potential job opportunities for qualifying participants.
Founded in 2015 with a desire to change economic outcomes for LMI families and the communities they live in, ATS has a fundamental purpose of reducing poverty and helping to connect individuals to viable career opportunities, including small business ownership. We believe that far too many individuals are marginalized and limited by their zip codes and/or socio-economic status. We want to help remove barriers to economic success for these vulnerable populations, which includes disconnected youth (ages 16-24 who are not connected to education or employment).
