Employment Skills Education volunteers will lead workshops presented to Damien Center clients who are trying to enter the workforce. Training curriculum can be provided by Damien Center or you can write your own. Topics will vary each session but should cover employment-related information such as resume building, interview skills, or writing cover letters.

Workshops are scheduled during the workday for two hours each (9-11 am or 1-3 pm). This includes time for the lesson and time for clients to work on resumes, cover letters, applications, etc. This volunteer opportunity can be one-time or on-going.

Requirements:

  • Must attend Damien 101 Volunteer Training
  • Volunteer must have a signed HIPAA/Confidentiality Policy form
  • Proven skills in workshop topic (e.g. interviewing, resume building, LinkedIn)
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to work well with people from different education levels and backgrounds
  • Dependable and punctual for assigned shift
  • Demonstrate courtesy, patience, and pleasant manner while interacting with staff and clients
  • Understanding, respectful, and empathetic to our clients’ unique positions and experiences
  • Demonstrate total respect for the confidentiality of any information known through client interactions
