PTW Overview:

PTW is a 100% volunteer run and operated international aid organization. Our aim is to provide the world with access to quality education and facilitating healthier lifestyles. Through a network of skilled volunteers, we deliver a range of health and education initiatives at the individual, community, and global level. For more than a decade PTW has utilised emerging technologies to deliver our health and education initiatives, meeting the needs of an increasingly connected world.

Position Overview:

The week-to-week work of this position involves working closely with all the project teams leads at PTW, and clearly identify an action plan on the volunteer culture and behavioural requirements for each team.

The focus of the role is to create and maintain a collaborative and constructive working culture within PTW. The Volunteer Culture Development officer plays a key role in the regular organisation wide pulse checks, to enquire about the level of volunteer engagement across all project teams and research and develop a more satisfying volunteer program throughout PTW. The Volunteer Culture Development officer has to identify volunteers seeking support in fulfilling projects, or those who may not be very keen to continue and work with them to improve their satisfaction in the roles, whilst remaining committed to PTW’s policies, procedures and principles.

Role Type:

This is a virtual and remote role, where the successful candidate is required to be available to conduct the relevant functions on a regular basis. Reliable access to internet, and a computer, in line with OHS workplace guidelines is essential.

Role Opportunity and Responsibilities:

This role has several responsibilities including:

  • Conducting the timely volunteer engagement/performance analyses and review to ensure optimal levels of volunteer engagement
  • Planning and contributing to areas of volunteer development and support where needed.
  • Arranging trainings for volunteers where required.
  • Develop Continuing Education opportunities both 'live’ and pre-developed for our online Learning Management System
  • Design and run volunteer team-building activities and events
  • Contributing to the development of integrated recruitment strategies that may need to be adapted and adjusted over time to meet the changing P&C needs across all the project teams at PTW

Who This Role Is Suited For:

This role is suited for individuals with strong and proven experience in management and leadership, along with working directly with new employees and/or volunteers through a Human Relations or People and Culture Department

Desired Skills/Qualities:

  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Strong digital literacy skills
  • Document management skills
  • Strong understanding of using communication applications such as Zoom and Slack

About You:

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with a passion for problem solving, process improvement and above all, providing an outstanding volunteer experience.

Additionally you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working and interpersonal relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Experience in a compliance driven, Service Delivery environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • High attention to detail and analytical problem solving.
  • An understanding of volunteer life-cycles and volunteer-retention strategies.

PTW believes in skill based volunteering where volunteers are matched to roles in their professional or academic background. PTW also utilise volunteers in their local environment so that travel is not necessary. COVID-19 has also reinforced this and all our volunteer opportunities are currently digital online opportunities.
