Hospice SLO County Threshold Singers seek new voices! Practices are held bi-monthly in San Luis Obispo.

Are you someone who enjoys singing with others? Do you have experience with multi-part harmonies or would like to learn how to sing in harmony with a group? Do you have a heart for those in need in your community?
Hospice SLO County invites you to join our Threshold Singers! The Hospice SLO County Threshold Singers are part of a national "Threshold Choir" network whose mission is to sing for and with those at the thresholds of life. Previously, in trios or quartets, the Hospice SLO County Threshold Singers visited homes, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing facilities throughout San Luis Obispo County. Now, while we can’t sing at the bedside due to COVID, we have been making some virtual choir recordings and are now offering monthly song baths on zoom for clients and caregivers. Yes, Zoom has its limitations, but it is a great time to join the group and learn the repertoire so as and when we can sing at the bedside again, we will be ready. And in the meantime can still offer our music through other avenues.
Threshold Singers sing for individuals experiencing life-limiting or end-of-life conditions, offering peace, tranquility, and what has often been described as a spiritual experience for those for whom they sing.
Hospice SLO County Threshold Singers need to do the following:
- Be able to carry a tune
- Be able to hold your own part (or want to learn to) while others sing harmony
- Be able to sing softly and blend your voice with others (or want to learn)
- Be able to communicate kindness with your voice
- Be willing to accept peer feedback and work with the group to bring the sweetest, most blended, and soothing sound to our clients and their families
The Hospice SLO County Threshold Singers rehearse as a group twice a month on the first and third Sundays of the month. We welcome your voice!

Hospice of San Luis Obispo County (Hospice SLO County) is an incorporated non-profit 501(c)(3) agency with offices located in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. Governed by a nine member Board of Directors, Hospice SLO County has been providing uninterrupted services since 1977 and continues to rely 100% on community donations, fundraising events, grants and bequests.
Hospice of San Luis Obispo County envisions a community that recognizes death as a part of life; where dying and grieving are embraced as natural; where all have access to support services without charge; where no one dies or is left to grieve without comfort.
