During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Newport Beach Public Library - Central Library
You can change a life by helping adults in the community learn to read, write and communicate better in English.... Help somebody achieve their personal goals.... Help change a life. Be a Tutor!
Becoming a tutor is easy. After a brief online orientation you will be eligible to take tutor training which, for now, is online! After satisfactorily completing training you will be ready to work with your adult learner; once a week for at least one hour.
Since the shelter in place order, we have taken the tutoring program online and have found that tutoring is a perfect virtual volunteer opportunity. We hope to resume face to face tutoring as soon as it is safe to do so.

The Public Library is dedicated to free and equal access to information, knowledge, independent lifelong learning, cultural enrichment, and the joys of reading for our diverse community. Among the many services we offer, NBPL provides tutoring to help improve the literacy skill of adults in the area to empower them to achieve success in their lives - at home, at work and in the community.
Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
We'll work with your schedule.
