Koenig Childhood Cancer Foundation's is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New York City with a mission to focus on and support both the children diagnosed with cancer and their families, financially and emotionally. We were started by a 12 year old cancer survivor named Elana Koenig who featured on NBC4, CBS2, ABC7, NY1, spoke at the World Net Summit alongside Steve Wozniak, reached hundreds of thousands of people on social media, and met with celebrities like Selana Gomez and politicians like Liz Krueger. She's a singer whose most popular music video reached 150k views on Instagram. This was all without the support of a publicist and, rather, the work of herself, her mother, and a few young, passionate volunteers.

Volunteering with us as a volunteer outreach volunteer would be an excellent opportunity for you to help proliferate the strong, compelling story of Elana to a larger public audience.

Although our organization has been relatively successful despite its young age, we're a flexible, lean startup that cares about quality people and will provide opportunities for advancement. We don't require more than a few hours of work a week. A few of the tasks:

  • Create effective publicity plans
  • Pitch stories and i deas to media outlets on behalf of KCCF
  • Arrange publicity opportunities such as speaking engagements, appearances and interviews
  • Build and maintain successful relationships with the media and other outlets
  • Promote KCCF's image in a successful manner

There are three "modes" of outreach
  • Corporate Outreach
  • Media Outreach

You'll be matched according to your experience. We expect you to be highly responsive on email. Our website is thekccf.org.

Mission Statement

Koenig Childhood Cancer Foundation's is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New York City with a mission to focus on and support both the children diagnosed with cancer and their families, financially and emotionally. We essentially "adopt" the child and their families, and in doing so, we bring them into the KCCF Family and support their direct and indirect challenges as our budget allows. We handle many of their needs such as medical payments not covered by insurance, travel and housing-related expenses and emotional support such as birthdays and other events. Vision Statement: We heal the emotional and financial wounds of childhood cancer. Mission Statement: To build a child-led community of healing that individualizes support to families fighting childhood cancer. We’re there from diagnosis to beyond remission, because the financial and emotional burden of illness lingers even if cancer itself does not.

Description

What differentiates us from other organizations?
* We help children diagnosed with cancer, not only in during treatment, but also after, as long as the family needs it.
* We support a project in Azerbaijan to send children outside the country to get treatment not available there.
* We are global; supporting children from all over the world who come to MSKCC and the Ronald McDonald House Charities in New York City.
