ORGANIZATION: Briscoe Western Art Museum

Purpose: To serve as a representative of the Briscoe Western Art Museum during the Night of Artists 20th Anniversary Exhibition and Sale. You will answer general questions, check-in guests, assist with the online bidding process via mobile devices, provide wayfinding information, and support Briscoe staff with other tasks as assigned.

When: Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10:00am to 3:00pm or 1:00pm-6:00pm or 4:30pm to 10:00pm

In addition, volunteers must attend one of the following virtual training sessions (Via Zoom):

  • [Session 1] Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:30am - RECORDING AVAILABLE
  • [Session 2] Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:30am - Specialized training over Auction Mobility & Night of Artists app

Details for attending these sessions are emailed to prospective participants upon receipt of their contact information. When you contact the Briscoe, please indicate which one you will attend.

Where: The Jack Guenther Pavilion at the Briscoe Western Art Museum | 210 W. Market Street, San Antonio, TX 78205

Parking: Complimentary parking is available during the evening of the Art Sale. Parking details are provided during the two training sessions.

Attire: Black Business/Western. Please wear comfortable shoes, as you will be moving about for a minimum of 3 hours at a time. All volunteers are required to wear a provided name badge.

Perks: The Briscoe Museum will provide food and beverage before the event. You will be among the first to view the new exhibition. We are also happy to sign off on any volunteer service hours documents if needed.

Health & Safety: Under the current directives of The Governor’s Report to Open Texas, the Briscoe is operating at 50 percent capacity. The museum’s safety protocols include: a required protective mask or face covering while inside the building, mandatory temperature check upon arrival, and hand sanitizer stations will be accessible throughout the building. We encourage volunteers to use best judgment and alert staff if necessary to enforce these protocols.

Description

The Briscoe Western Art Museum showcases historic and contemporary art and artifacts that highlight the American West. The Museum is housed in San Antonio's 1930's central library building, beautifully restored to its original glory. Vaquero, American Indian, and Cowboy narratives come to life through painting sculpture, photography, and exquisitely crafted artifacts.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Volunteers should remain on site for the duration of the shift unless dismissed early.
  • Volunteers must be willing to assist guests with online bidding/purchasing via cellphone or tablet. Some level of comfortability with technology is necessary. Staff members will explain the process in the training session prior to the event.
