REMOTE OPPORTUNITY:
We are expanding some of our services and delivering groceries to families and students facing food insecurity. We'd like to provide some inspiration through sharing our favorite basic and budget-friendly recipes (think low-cost but big flavor!).
If recipes aren't your thing, feel free to submit tips for proper food safety and storage or you can assist with translating our recipes!
This can be done at any time, any day- it just needs to be sent to our Volunteer Coordinator by the distribution dates listed below.
Recipes can include photos, doodles, color- they should just give our families ideas for using the food we send. They should be oriented in landscape format, and can be saved as a JPG, PNG, Word or PDF file.
Each family normally receives:
- A protein (usually ground beef, pork loin, or chicken breasts/thighs)
- A grain (brown or white rice, quinoa, lentils, etc.)
- Some sort of produce (such as onions, garlic, fruit, etc.)
Distribution Dates:
Tuesday, 2/10
Tuesday, 3/9
Tuesday, 4/13
Tuesday, 5/11

Mission Statement
Care for Friends provides easy access to community, food and overall wellness for Chicago’s most vulnerable and under-served people, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Through its programs, Care for Friends successfully connects people with community resources to enable them to achieve a better quality of life.
Description
Our flagship program is "Food for Friends" - where we create a safe space for anyone requiring a meal to gather in community for a no-cost hot lunch served in sit-down, family style with dignity and respect.
Other services are available during this gathering time, including haircuts, a health clinic, clothes closet, and toiletries distribution. Additionally, representatives from our various partner organizations begin to make connections with our guests - establishing trusting relationships that will ultimately allow our guests to connect with the services they need to achieve a better quality of life.
