Description

NEW Foundation started as a self help group of 30 women from one village in Sironko district, Eastern Uganda, East Africa.
To-date NEW Foundation has established and empowered over 4000 rural women through formation of 150 savings and loans associations; A tailoring centre was later established and women trained to sew. To-date they have been able to make school uniforms; face masks to confront the Covid-19 pandemic; Re-useable sanitory pads among others. We deliver basic business management training to women so they are eqquiped with skills of starting and managing their enterprises.
A rabbit project was recently rolled to address the protein nutritional needs of rural families who mainly eat meat only on special occassions such as Christmas days. The idea is to donate a pair of rabbits to a group of women who then pass on to members whenever they reproduce ( A female rabbit can reproduce upto 14 little ones every month as its pregnancy lasts 4 weeks -28 to 31 days. And its meat said to be among the most nutritious white meat. Our desire is to support rural households to rear rabbits for family consumption and find markets so they can raise incomes for their families later.
Women's health and well-being matters to us, we want to address Sexual Health and Sexual Reproductive and Rights of the women.
We have been open to any intervention that leads to the transformation of women, girls and their house holds.
