Do You Wonder if You Could Do Hospice Work?

Southland Hospice

  • 8 people are interested

Have you thought about becoming a hospice volunteer but didn't know if you could do it? Have you wondered how people can volunteer with folks who are at end of life? Have you tried to imagine what volunteers do and if it would be too difficult?

You're not alone. Many people have the same thoughts and questions. One thing you can do is schedule an informational meeting with our Director of Volunteers who can best explain the program, including requirements, tasks, expectations, and training. You'll hear stories of how volunteers have helped patients and their families and have a clear picture of the on-going, strong support through supervision that volunteers get.

And then you can determine if this would be a good fit for you, if this is a challenge you would like to try. We support the decision you make because, as we say in hospice, no matter what, "it's OK."

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Southland Hospice is committed to providing quality care for patients faced with a life limiting illness. The goal is to improve the quality of a person's life through pain and symptom control, emotional and spiritual support. We believe that the patient and their family are integral decision making members of the Hospice Team for planning and receiving care. Hospice offers an alternative to repeat hospitalizations and provides patients the opportunity to complete their lives with dignity and peace.

Southland Hospice delivers quality care by a team of professionals --Physicians, Registered Nurses, Hospice Aides, Medical Social Workers, Spiritual Counselors, and Volunteers - who will provide comprehensive hospice services for our patients and families in the setting where they feel most comfortable.
