We are looking for tutors to teach English to adult residents of our community. No teaching or foreign language experience is necessary--just a desire to make a difference in someone's life. We offer free training and materials for tutors. Tutors can elect one-to-one tutoring or small group classes.

Our classes are both in-person and on Zoom. Tutors will reside in or close to Bergenfield.

Tutors must be at least 18 years old.

The mission of the Bergenfield Public Library's English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is to help adult residents learn English so that language may become one less obstacle to understanding, opportunity, and unity.

Description

The Bergenfield Public Library's English as a Second Language (ESL) Program has been serving the community since 1980. We offer individual and small group instruction to adult residents who want to improve their English. We seek volunteer tutors with a desire to make a difference in someone's life. The commitment is an hour per week. No teaching or foreign language experience is necessary. Volunteers receive free training and materials.

The program has been accredited by ProLiteracy and is an affiliate of Literacy New Jersey.
