EVERY Sunday 1130 -1430

So covid limits the majority of social work done in the city, the social workers don’t come out, there is no outreach, people are scared to leave their homes, we will first educate each other on covid safety precautions, then implement that training ourselves, ppe , proper social distancing ect. Then we will educate each other on what Dak Dao does, what services are available and offer assistance in accessing them, providing information for clients to access it themselves, after our group info session, we will disburse in a predetermined path that participants will walk in groups (2 minimum, 6 maximum) maintaining social distancing and PPE at all times. During the canvassing participants will be carrying brochures to distribute, as well as bagged lunches for people in need. The groups will conclude their walk by meeting a predetermined spot for group lunch, a "debriefing" of the days walk, and give opportunity for any questions, comments, concerns, as well as suggestions and requests for the next event.

keep in mind, this event is for the community to help us all grow and thrive and succeed in life, a part of being a good community is taking care of each other, looking out for each other, so just be aware that the more experienced members of the group started this as a public safety patrol, if we saw crime or violence we did our best to disperse the incident, although acts of violence have subsided, there I still that possibility and the active group members and leaders still step up to intervene, especially in the event of violent crime, racism, or any crime against innocent community members. It is important that any new volunteers be made aware and that no volunteer is expected to take action in any incident, and Dak Dao as an organization discourages any involvement as well, but do not be surprised if you witness the days leader or group members becoming actively involved in an incident that could possibly cause a confrontation or contact with law enforcement, we do act immediately to abate any violence, but also do report such incidents to the police as required by law, we are not a vigilante group nor do we support any such actions.

About Dak Dao Commjnity Services

Location:

Mission Statement

Because everyone needs help, but especially those that everyone else has forgotten, Dak Dao does not just sit by and wait for people to come looking for handouts, but we take the initiative to reach out to the community and find the people that should be getting assistance and aren’t, or who are entitled to benefits, but aren’t even aware of what those benefits are. At the lowest level, is support, giving to those in need, but from there we bring awareness, then education, and one on one counseling to people that need help, but we’re unable to get it themselves. Our goal isn’t to feed a person with our own food, but rather teach them the skills they need to feed and care for themselves.

Description

Dak Dao started in 2019 as a way for me to change my life, but since Covid started it has really become a an all encompassing part of my life. I spent the entirety of my own money, money I made from being a pretty bad guy, on giving back to the community, we’ll I don’t have any more of that to give, but I have my own time and effort, and so far it works out for me, I am no longer in and out of jail or needing to watch my back, i am happy, healthy, and although not exactly rich anymore, I’m certainly not going hungry. It is still my greatest passion to help the people that when I had nothing helped me, because everyone needs a leg up, i want to be there to give it to them.
