Help us make creative reuse products and kits for Chicago teachers and their students.

We need people with basic sewing skills to make:

  • Recyclo-Owls + Recyclo-Ponies
  • Recyclo-Pouches
  • Face Masks
And basic crafting skills (cutting, glueing, melting, sewing) to make:
  • Social Distancing Wands
  • Banner Wallets
  • Super-Crayons
  • Imagination Journals
  • Shape Robots
  • Sit-Upons
  • Desk Carrels
  • and more!
We'll send you materials and instructions, and you can make things at your leisure and return them to us when you are finished. We estimate that most of our projects take between 1-3 hours to make.

Description

The Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRx) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that offers materials, programs and resources to Chicago’s educational, non-profit and artistic communities. We believe it is essential to provide Chicago’s teachers with inexpensive, interesting, and useful materials, and to empower and inspire Chicago’s youth to be inventive and creative with the surplus materials at hand. Our overall mission is to foster creativity and connection through redistributing and reimagining surplus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 15
  • This is up to you. We think most projects take between 1-3 hours to make, and would send you at least 3 projects to make (unless you request more).
  • We don't provide scissors or glue or tape measures or pins. Hopefully you have those!
