ORGANIZATION: Grace Hospice of Richmond

Grace Hospice is looking for volunteers in the Richmond/Mechanicsville area to visit our patients. We are specifically looking for volunteers who have musical talents and can play the guitar! You could also spend time sitting with the patient while the caregiver runs errands, provide companionship for the patient, play games, watch tv or many other enjoyable things. We work with your schedule so pretty much and days or times will work. If this sounds like you apply today at www.ghospice.com. We hope to hear from you soon!

Volunteers follow strict COVID 19 procedures and wear appropriate PPE provided by Grace Hospice for in-home visits.

Please choose Richmond as the location even though you will be volunteering in or around Richmond/Mechanicsville.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of day, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing

Description

Hospice care is not just for the patient. It also provides emotional support for the entire family. Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end state of life. Our program is for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. Our philosophy focuses on comfort care not curative care. Our goal is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. We also serve patients who are living in long-term and assisted living facilities.
