The Literacy Council of Tyler is always looking for volunteers to help the students in our community in a number of ways.

  • Tutoring (Literacy, GED, ESL)
  • Classroom greeters/attendance takers
  • Virtual classroom Zoom hosts
  • and much more!
Rising unemployment rates and uncertain times have only increased the demand for our services. With additional volunteers, we can help more people reach their educational goals.

Mission Statement

Literacy Council of Tyler is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to eliminating illiteracy and changing the lives of adults and their families forever. Through its supporters, staff, partners and volunteers, LCOT positively impacts the quality of life for thousands of East Texans.


Literacy Council of Tyler provides adult learners classes in Basic Literacy, GED Preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL) at our main facility and at several satellite locations.
