Calling motivated community members! Do you wish to create change? Are you wanting to learn more about the process of mediation and restorative practices? Do you hope to enhance your leadership skills and create new connections in your professional network? Mediation and Restorative Services (MARS), a growing non-profit organization located in Minnesota, is looking to expand our Board of Directors with a volunteer who has a strong interest in the work that we do. Our mission at MARS is to help residents of Anoka County and neighboring communities to resolve their own conflicts and repair harm, by providing accessible, affordable mediation and restorative services. Board members are expected to regularly attend meetings and events, and must commit to making decisions in the best interest for MARS. Duties include assisting in fund development, board maintenance, program expansion, and providing proper financial oversight. Board of Directors have the authority to initiate and approve policies and procedures in collaboration with the Executive Director. Board Member terms are two years long. Board members are unpaid volunteers and must be atleast 18 years of age. The MARS board is currently comprised of 6 Board Members who meet every other month on Wednesdays, in the late afternoon. MARS desires to create a Board of Directors with different life experiences and perspectives. This way, we can have a deeper understanding of the communities we serve. We encourage all people, including women, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) people, people in the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply - as well as people of varying ages and educational backgrounds. Applicants will not be discriminated against because of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, religion, national origin, citizenship status, disability, ancestry, marital status, veteran status, medical condition or any protected category prohibited by local, state or federal laws. Interested in this opportunity? Please submit a cover letter and resume to info@mediationservice.org to apply.
