The Ladder Alliance is a nonprofit organization serving Tarrant County since 2002. TLA is best known for providing innovative, essential educational programs to women survivors of domestic violence, and low-income women. Our team of educators, program/ administrators, and fundraising professionals lead with passion, and have served 250+ adult learners annually. We are looking for someone with a passion for effecting change in the lives of others, a demonstrated ability to grow and diversify the agency's portfolio, and a commitment to upholding the mission and values of The Ladder Alliance.

Do you know Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as how to use the Internet and email? If you do, how would you like to use these skills to teach some deserving women who are anxious to learn? Apply to be a classroom support volunteer today!

Classes are offered in the morning, afternoon, evenings. Classes are two hours a day, for 2 days a week, 8-12 weeks long. All curriculum and equipment will be provided. Background check is required.

To provide survivors of domestic violence and low-income women with the tools to lead self-sufficient, successful and independent lives.

Description

In 2001, Sharon Cox realized her dream of opening a non-profit that focused on teaching computer skills to women of domestic violence and low-income women. The Ladder Alliance offers women the job skills necessary to secure employment in today’s technological job market, eliminates barriers to attending class by providing snacks, bi-lingual, evening. Students also earn vouchers that can used in our Success Store to purchase professional attire and haircut/blow-dry/styling are also available for every student! The Basic Computer Skills Training program is the first level of training offered to our participants. It is a 8-week (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thur) course that is offered in-person during the day, afternoon, evening. This program is designed to help students in obtaining computer skills necessary in an entry level position in any field of work. Professional Office Skills Training is an advanced level of training offered to our participants. This program is a 12-week (Mon-Thurs) course that is offered in-person only and covers Intro to Business and Finance through QuickBooks training, Customer Service Training and a Professional Speaker Series. Microsoft Office Specialist Training is an 8-week certification program designed to prepare students to take the internationally recognized Microsoft Office Specialist Exam. Next Level is a free educational program open to current students, alumni, and to the entire community!

  • Classes are 2 days a week for 2 hours each day for a total of 4 hours per week. The course is 8 weeks for a total of 32 hours of volunteer committment.
