TSE

  • Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks
  • Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions
  • Providing students positive and constructive feedback
  • Offering feedback on progress to the children parents and TSE Staff when needed.
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays From 11:30am -1:30pm
Tutors are paid a lunch Stipend of $20 for 90 minute tutoring sessions. Stipends are paid two weeks on Friday.

Teaching Self-Sufficiency through Education (TSE) mission is to provide services that empower Oakland families experiencing chronic and real time difficulties within their life and community. The specific purpose for TSE is to empower and encourage low income people to build stronger and healthier relationships to better the lives of their families.

Description

TSE goal is to provide effective educational and supportive services/resources to capitalize on the strengths of the families and build personal self-appreciation, relationships, and motivate them find value in their communities and neighbors. Our services will include but are not limited to Intake, Screening and Parenting/Educational group. Referrals (for abuse treatment), Housing, Counseling and Mental Health services will be available as well.

  • Must be at least 18
  • 1-2 hours a week depending on the need.
  • In Person must live in or around the Oakland Area. If you are in High School you can use hours as Community Service Hours as well.
