Mentor for Exodus Project
ORGANIZATION: SACRAMENTO DISTRICT COUNCIL
Please visit the new page to apply.
Do you consider yourself a mentor or have an interest in becoming one? Exodus Project is looking for one-on-one mentors to work with men and women during the final months of their incarcerations and for six-months post-release. We are looking for mentors from all walks of life. Being a mentor means offering non-judgemental listening, encouragement, and guidance. Mentors can also provide practical support with housing, healthcare, and employment. It is a 5 to 8 hour a month commitment for a year. Men and women who were criminal justice impacted or are in recovery are strongly encouraged to apply.
Our next mentor training is scheduled for November. It is a remarkable training with many returning citizens as trainers. We plan for it to be in person, however, if need be we will switch the training to Zoom.
This is an exciting opportunity to become directly involved in helping someone get back on their feet. The 16-hour training is as follows:
Thur, Nov 11, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sat, Nov 13, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Thur, Nov 18, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Sat, Nov 20, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Here is our website to apply: https://www.svdp-sacramento.org/exodus

If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a mentor or have any questions, please contact us.

Mission Statement
In the spirit of love and justice, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Sacramento Council, through its districts and conferences throughout the Diocese of Sacramento, provides person-to-person services of time, talent and resources to help our neighbors in need.
Description
There are families and individuals throughout Northern California who right now are in crisis and in desperate need of our love and support. They may lack in education, they may struggle with literacy. They may have physical and mental disabilities, they may have prison records. The common thread, though, is they are all human beings. Their stories could be anyone’s stories, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is here to listen and respond to their needs.
