Currently, volunteer staff provide support as ambassadors, greeting and COVID-screening visitors to the unit. Volunteer staff may also provide administrative support including assembling admissions packets and answering phones. Volunteer staff are not permitted to have any patient contact at this time and until further notice.
All staff--volunteers and employees--comply with the following pandemic safety protocols while working on the unit: 1. Masks are to be worn properly (covering the nose and mouth) at all times while on the unit, and are strongly encouraged to continue those practices off the clock. New unit volunteer staff receive education and training about the proper use and handling of facemasks prior to being placed in this assignment. 2. All staff observe social distancing (6' or more) as often as that is practical. Exceptions for volunteer staff will include taking visitors' temperatures as part of the COVID screening procedures, requiring a brief but no-contact encounter as the volunteer staff member uses the appropriate equipment to complete that step of the COVID screening process. 3. All staff comply with proper hand hygiene practices while on the unit, and are strongly encouraged to continue those practices off the clock. New unit volunteer staff receive education and training about proper hand hygiene practices prior to placement in this assignment, and are observed regularly throughout their affiliation with the organization to ensure continued proper compliance with these practices.
