During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we have evolved to be one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories.
WISH GRANTER POSITION SUMMARY
A wish granter helps a child heal by building resiliency through positive, joyful experiences centered around the wish journey. Wish granters build relationships with the child and their family to enable the child to discover their one true wish. Wish granters are responsible for building the wish child’s anticipation over the course of the wish journey. They act as a reliable, communicative, and productive member of the "wish team" by working closely with Make-A-Wish staff and other volunteers to create the best possible wish experience for the child.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Meetings may take place at the wish family’s home, virtually or at a neutral location, such as a restaurant or hospital. Wish meetings are scheduled based upon the schedules of the wish team and wish family. Wish granters are expected to meet with families at least three times over the course of the wish.

About Make-A-Wish Illinois
Make-A-Wish Illinois, was founded in 1985 and we serve all 102 counties of Illinois. We have 50 staff members and over 1700 volunteers who make up our team that has worked to grant over 16,000 wishes.
Wishes impact everyone involved-wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel like they can be optimistic. And still others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy. This impact is why we are driven to make every one of these wishes come true.
