Bring your specialized, deep experience to help small business entrepreneurs achieve success. Today’s small business owners must master many functions to drive greater success and accelerate growth - from building world-class websites, to leveraging the power of social media and implementing cloud computing.

As part of SCORE’s free mentoring services, you can work directly with an experienced SCORE mentor and their entrepreneur clients to support very specialized areas of small business. As a Subject Matter Expert Mentors (SME), you would be an adjunct expert called in to provide specialized support and advice to assist a SCORE mentor when their client needs a deeper dive on a specific topic.

Areas where specialized SME services are needed include (but are not limited to: finance; accounting; human resources management; website design, development, and webmaster skills; social media and digital marketing skills; taxation and specialized finance skills; IT infrastructure and cloud computing understanding and advice.

If you have a few hours per month and want to share your specialized expertise with a local small business owner, become a SCORE Subject Matter Expert. 5+ years relevant business experience and location in NE Wisconsin required.

Description

SCORE is dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow and succeed nationwide through volunteer mentors offering free and confidential small business advice. SCORE is a nonprofit resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and has been mentoring small business owners for nearly 60 years. A network of over 255 SCORE offices across the country with 10,000 volunteers offer free, confidential business mentoring and low- or no-cost workshops.

For over half a decade, SCORE's thousands of working and retired business professionals, representing 62 industries, have volunteered their knowledge, expertise and experience to support the success of small business nationwide. More than 4.65 million hours of expertise and advice were donated by SCORE volunteers in 2022! SCORE provides:

  • Free, confidential business mentoring in person, via email or by video
  • Volunteer mentors who share their expertise across industries
  • Free business tools, templates and tips online
  • Inexpensive or free business workshops (locally) and webinars (online 24/7)
SCORE Fox Cities is located in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin and represents 8 counties in the area: Calumet, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Marquette, Outagamie, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago.
