Volunteers will be assisting with facilitating programs at multiple locations including online. Several of our programs incorporate animal handling and/or acts of service (Gulf Coast Humane Society and Animal Refuge Center). One program is virtual and new opportunities will arise as we expand our programming. Facilitators teach students mindfulness practices and concepts that will help decrease stress and improve well-being.
Opportunity requires a 10 week training in mindfulness, a 6 month to 1 year commitment and an openness and willingness to work with youth 10-17 years old.
Training begins on Sunday, 3/21 and will be from 10am to noon.
Youth have been greatly affected by the isolation that has resulted from the COVID crisis. Many are struggling with connecting with others. Our program creates the connection between participants with animals serving as a bridge. The mindfulness practices they learn assist with managing stress, depression and anxiety associated with COVID and beyond.
