Garden Tour Guide

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: The Trustees of Reservations

The Trustees is looking for outgoing and engaging volunteers to join us in welcoming visitors to the diverse and beautiful gardens at Long Hill and telling its stories. Garden Tour Guides will lead groups of visitors on tours of the grounds and engage them in conversation about the beauty, history, and importance of the gardens.

This opportunity is for individuals who enjoy talking to people and have an interest in gardens or gardening, local Massachusetts’ history, or Long Hill. Training will be provided, so no previous knowledge of the property or a green thumb is required, just an excitement to learn!

Tours will take place on alternating Wednesdays and Saturdays (April - October) at 10.30 AM for groups of up to 20 visitors or current state mandated Covid19 limit (currently 11 plus guide). The tours will be 1 hour in length and include a short 1/4 mile walk through the gardens on crushed stone pathways and grass.

Mission Statement

The Trustees of Reservations is here to protect and share the Massachusetts places people love for their exceptional scenic, historic, and ecological value. For their trails, their history, their gardens, their beaches. For the simple reason that nature and culture can soothe the soul and improve our lives.

Description

Who We Are

We are more than 100,000 people like you who love the outdoors, who love the distinctive charms of New England, and who believe in celebrating and protecting them, for everyone, forever.

Together with our neighbors, we protect the distinct character of our communities and inspire a commitment to our special places. Our passion is to share with everyone the irreplaceable natural and cultural treasures we care for.

What We Do

We enjoy and care for more than 100 special places - nearly 25,000 acres - all around Massachusetts. And we are actively building an extended family of friends and neighbors across the state that can help in their different ways.

What We Are Up Against

Through more than 100 years of hard work and high standards, The Trustees have built a sterling reputation and a stunning physical legacy.

Today, the places we care about are going fast, and the forces undermining them, including climate change, are moving faster. We need to tap the wellspring of people’s joy - in their communities, their heritage, and the natural world - and mobilize a whole new generation to care.
