What you do and the time you serve, matters. Our volunteers are the heart and backbone of our weekly efforts to help support our community that is facing food insecurity. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they organize food for distribution on Thursdays. On Thursday mornings, we serve about 400 people a week and it takes dedicated volunteers like you, dear reader of this post, to make it all happen. We welcome you and look forward to making your acquaintance.

About Hope on Union, United University Church

Location:

2208 S UNION AVE, LOS ANGELES, CA 90007, US

Mission Statement

United University Church is an open and affirming congregation that seeks to live out our call to be a home of faith for all people and to be an agent of hope to our neighbors. We affirm that everyone is created in the image of God, and each person enables us to see a fuller picture of God.

Description

Hope on Union, United University Church is an inclusive, progressive bi-denominational church previously located on the USC campus and has relocated to University Park. It was formed from a merger of the University United Methodist Church and the Old First Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles in 1982. These two congregations shared their commitment to ministries of justice and had long histories of lifting up the humanity of the marginalized and protecting the dignity of the oppressed. They were not afraid to be the first to step up to protect the vulnerable, break color and gender barriers, and openly and enthusiastically welcome the LGBTQI+ community.
