Walk to End Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association is looking for enthusiastic planning committee members for the 2021 Utah County & Wasatch Back Walks to End Alzheimer's,

We are recruiting marketing volunteers for two different events. One event is the Utah County Walk to End Alzheimer's and the other is the Wasatch Back (Park City) Walk to End Alzheimer's.

If you're interested in either of these positions it is preferable that you live in the county specific to the event. It is not however, mandatory.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's Planning committee is a small but mighty group of energetic go-getters who are passionate about the Alzheimer's Association's mission. The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the Association's largest fundraising event, held nationally in over 600 communities. Our goal is to raise funds to ultimately find a cure for Alzheimer's disease while spreading awareness about the programs and services offered at no charge to the professionals, friends, and families that are already on an Alzheimer's journey. The Walk Planning committee is volunteer lead and staff supported. We have a wonderful event chair in place but are seeking additional individuals interested in leadership roles particularly marketing and team recruitment. A Walk Planning Committee member's activities might include the following:

  • Attending monthly committee meetings (in person and/or virtual)
  • Making phone calls to both current and past participants
  • Reaching out to personal and professional connections to recruit participants and sponsors
  • Assistance with the marketing of the event (Social media posts, radio ads, emails campaigns)
  • Participating on the Walk social media pages
  • Starting a fundraising team
  • Writing thank-you notes
The local Alzheimer's Association staff partner will support you throughout the season and will be happy to tailor your volunteer experience around your interests, skills, and schedule. Please Note: We are currently 100% remote.
Ideal volunteers would have some of these traits:
  • Enjoying connecting with people in the community
  • Enthusiasm for the cause
  • Passionate about ending Alzheimer's and all dementia
  • Creativity
  • Comfortable talking on the phone
Monthly commitment: Approximately 3-4 hours per month. This will vary depending on the month as we get closer to the event. While the Walk is scheduled for August in Wasatch Back and September for Utah County, we fundraise year-round. Most volunteer opportunities will begin in February and go through November 2021. Whether we’re together at a large in-person gathering or walking in small groups in our individual neighborhoods, we can make a difference!

The health and safety of our constituents, staff, and volunteers will continue to be our top priority as we assess the changing status of the pandemic and make a decision about how we’ll walk in 2021. If you're interested in volunteering in a marketing or non-marketing related capacity please reach out to Amanda Charles at aecharles@alz.org and we will find something suited to your skills.
