The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, advocacy, and research. Held in more than 600 communities nationwide, it is an annual event that rallies communities around one hope; a World without Alzheimer’s.
We are a volunteer-driven organization and looking for passionate individuals to serve on the Walk Planning Committee for the 2021 Greater Lafayette Walk to End Alzheimer's. This is a great opportunity to become more involved with community outreach, awareness, and connections for the Greater Lafayette Walk. Whatever your talents, we have a role for you!
The full committee meets monthly February through October. We are currently meeting virtually until it's safe to do so in person. In addition to the monthly meeting, sub-committees also meet once a month, and some activities can be completed on your own time.
Committees roles include:
Team Retention - Do you like to build relationships? Are you good at coaching? Like to make phone calls? Join us!
Team Recruitment - Are you a social butterfly with lots of connections? Work in the corporate world and have a huge number of connections on LinkedIn? This might be the committee for you!
Marketing & Outreach - Are you a Social Media Influencer? Do you have connections in the media? Is writing your thing? We could use you!
Mission - Do you have a deep personal connection to Alzheimer's & Dementia? Want to share your story with others? Please help us bring awareness of Alzheimer's and our fight to end it by joining our Mission subcommittee.
Logistics - Are you a project manager? Are details and event planning your thing? We can use your help!
Due to Covid-19, the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer's was not held as a large gathering, but rather the walk was "Everywhere". In 2021 we hope to gather together again in some capacity, but we also anticipate some kind of hybrid event incorporating elements of the 2020 Walk.
The Greater Lafayette Walk will take place in late September or early October (official date TBA). Volunteer time commitment will vary depending on the month, but typically ranges from 2-5 hours/month from February through October. Opportunity to make it flexible with your schedule.
