ORGANIZATION: CHAPTER 20 EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT ASSOCIATION SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 4 people are interested

Our mission is to help develop hands-on STEM skills for students aged 15-21. We have a sizable group of 25 smart, enthusiastic students who are about to embark on a project to begin building an experimental aircraft at San Carlos airport that comes from the world’s best kit builder (RV-12 from Van’s Aircraft). So we have lots of energy on our hands. Now to be successful, we need to find a project manager who can help expand their STEM education while learning essential professional skills ranging from meticulous attention to detail and time management, to leadership and collaboration. The ideal candidate is someone who is an expert in aircraft maintenance, an avid aviator/educator, or a former tech teacher at one of our local schools.

Mission Statement

Bring all generations together through shared interest in aviation. We have a special focus on expanding the STEM eduction of young adults by developing their hands-on technical skills through the process of building light sport airplanes

Description

Chapter 20 has a highly active group of members. We have a group of pilot volunteers that provide monthly free rides to young people. We sponsor scholarships in conjunction with EAA headquarters to help young scholars achieve their private pilot's license, along with annual scholarships for summer camp programs at Air Academy in Oshkosh, WI. More recently, Chapter 20 just completed an aircraft build program in August, 2020. That airplane now belongs to a local flying club associated with Chapter 20, and is getting constant use.
