We're a nonprofit cat rescue based in the Boston area. We just opened our own cat shelter! Please join us at this exciting time in our mission to save the lives of stray and abandoned cats!
The purpose of this position is to process the admission of cats that are going to become part of TCC. This role is responsible for partnering with the main sources of intake to place animals for our adoption program : owner surrenders, trapping, and transfers from other shelter/rescues, and animal control.
Duties include:
Fielding all inquiries regarding the surrender of cats
Counseling surrendering owners on the intake process and offer alternatives to relinquishment when appropriate
Helping determine placement pathways by documenting key information about the animal’s history, known behavior, and habits
Prioritizing intakes from the trapping and owner surrender programs based on the current and projected available capacity at the shelter and foster program
Working with the Trapping Coordinator to receive information about trapped cats
Working with the Shelter Director regarding placement of cats into shelter
Working in unison with the Foster Coordinator regarding intakes requiring in home care versus in shelter care
Working with Medical Director to coordinate vaccination and intake exam of incoming cats, as well as any other medical needs the cat might have
Communicating with Behavior Consultant regarding potential intakes that have behavioral needs
Processing all intake paperwork
This is a very important role at The Cat Connection; you would be literally saving cats' lives!
We’d like to have 2 Intake Coordinators who will alternate intakes. We estimate this position taking about 2-4 hours per week.
A local person would be ideal, however this could be a virtual position.
