We are dedicated to the preservation and the safe, professional operation and exhibition of the SP&S 700. We promote safe behavior around railroad property through our relationship with Operation Lifesaver. We are devoted to telling the steam-era story of the SP&S 700.
PRPA is an all volunteer organization. We are housed at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center across from OMSI. The SP&S 700 is a beautiful steam locomotive built in 1938. The 700 served on the Spokane, Portland & Seattle railway through the 1950's. It is currently undergoing the 15 year inspection and renovation process. Our volunteers are mostly retired railroaders or railroad hobbyists. The ORHC was built in 2012 to house all three of Portland's historical steam locomotives and is growing into a significant museum in Portland and the Northwest. Admission is free.
We'll work with your schedule.
