Community Food Distributors - Kern County

Save to Favorites

Are you looking to give back to the community? LifeSTEPS has an opportunity for you!

We are currently seeking hard-working and dedicated volunteers committed to empowering their neighbors and residents in Kern County by providing nutritional nourishment and alleviating food insecurity.

It would require help with set -up, crowd control, and keeping sign-in sheets for food distribution to residents living in affordable housing communities. The volunteer must be able to attend a one-hour "shopping" appointment at the food bank, assist with sorting in the office and distributing food to residents, lift up to 50lbs, and be willing to obtain a Food Handler's certification - which only takes about a 45-minute training. It will also be helpful to have transportation in case assistance with transporting food is needed. Bilingual in Spanish is also preferred but not required.

We are looking for 1 more volunteer in the Bakersfield, Arvin, and McFarland area (Kern County, CA).

The food distribution occurs 2-4 times a month, no more than once a week. Hours would typically be 8:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
