ORGANIZATION: The Animal Pad

TAP Logo

The Animal Pad all-breed dog rescue is searching for reliable volunteers who are free on weekdays and/or weekends, and are comfortable handling dogs and interacting with our fosters during our vetting days at our La Mesa facility. These volunteers would have the title of Foster Liaison!

This is a hands-on role that involves greeting fosters and their dogs when they arrive at the facility, walking or carrying dogs to the vet room, helping set up and break down crates as needed, and relaying important medical info between the fosters and the Vetting team. You will also usher dogs awaiting medical clearance to and from their temporary kennel and the vet room. Most of the time onsite is outside (under shade), manning a check in area at our front door. We have our vetting clinics 2-4 times per week, with Monday being our most consistent day to see dogs at our headquarters. Our vet's schedule changes week-to-week but we often have clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays,as well as every other Saturday. Most clinic days are broken down into 2 shifts, mornings (7:45am-12:30pm) and afternoons (12:30pm-5:15pm). Ideally, 2 Foster Liaisons work together during each shift so we always have a volunteer out front to greet people who come by!
Edit to add: The cuddling opportunities for this role will be endless!

**Because this is an in-person volunteer opportunity, we are only accepting volunteers who are located in San Diego, CA.**

About The Animal Pad

Location:

4620 Avocado Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91941, US

Mission Statement

The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue based in San Diego, CA that focuses on saving dogs from the streets of Mexico and high kill shelters. We get them the vet care they need, place them in foster homes and then find them loving forever families. Our mission is to form a safe space for dogs experiencing crisis and neglect, and to build a community of compassion through education, rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. Our community of volunteers and fosters strives to ensure that all dogs get a fighting chance, and believes that no case is too extreme to be helped - meaning our rescue is full of perfectly imperfect dogs who can’t wait to meet you! Being operated solely by volunteers and funded entirely by donations, none of what we do could be possible without our dedicated team!

Description

Here at TAP, we give voice to the voiceless and our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find them the best homes possible. Founded in 2010, The Animal Pad is volunteer run and funded entirely by donations. We rescue dogs primarily off the streets of Mexico, and provide them full medical care and a loving foster home to heal in before they head to their adoptive home.

If you're interested in any of our volunteer opportunities and getting involved in a cause bigger than any of us, please head over to our website and fill out a volunteer application online: https://theanimalpad.org/volunteer/
