Summary
We are looking for an empathetic, professional, and enthusiastic individual to be a Peer Mentor. Peer Mentoring is a personalized, self-advocacy training service that pairs the participant with a mentor that is alike in age and specialty to help the participant learn how to advocate for themselves in the community, as well as in social and professional situations. The mentor is available to provide support and assistance that the participant may need to effectively transition into post-secondary training, education, and/or employment. Training is provided for Peer Mentors. This position can serve as an unpaid internship for the Peer Mentor.
- The Peer Mentor will prepare for and facilitate meetings with adults with autism to support them in their vocational, professional, personal, and independent living goals.
- The Peer Mentor will help inform the participant of available services in the community and will assist with the application processes.
- They will also help the participant schedule appointments and will coach on interpersonal communication
- The Peer Mentor must be able to commit to 1 year of service.
Skills and Abilities
- The perfect applicant for this position is comfortable working with young adults with autism. Experience working with young adults with autism or special needs is preferred, but not required.
- Must demonstrate empathy, patience, and friendliness while working with high-functioning adults with autism.

Founded in 2016, ASD Achievement serves adults 18 and over who desire greater independence. ASD Achievement provides training and education in the areas of independent life skills, social skills, executive function skills and job readiness skills to Central Florida residents.
