Our staff goes out into the homeless camps to find veterans. They pass out these emergency backpacks to those in need. These are the items that we request for these emergency backpack kits:
Backpack, Washcloth, Bar Soap, Blanket, Socks, Disposable Razors, Shaving Cream, Comb, Nail Clippers, Lotion, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Chapstick, Deodorant, Bottle of Water
Optional Items: First Aid Kit, Winter Hat, Winter Gloves, and a Rain Poncho
Please place items into a new backpack or drawstring bag.
An emergency food bag will be added by HVAF staff.
Items can be dropped off at HVAF of Indiana - 964 N Pennsylvania St, Indianapolis, IN 46204 Monday-Friday between 8:30 am and 4 pm. There is a loading/unloading area in front of the 10 th Street entrance and free parking is available across the street.

We are Indiana’s largest non-profit provider of services for veterans. Our mission is to provide housing and reintegration services to veterans experiencing or at-risk for homelessness.
HVAF of Indiana provides housing to more than 200 homeless veterans through a mix of 13 properties including homes and apartment complexes throughout Central Indiana. HVAF is the largest non-profit provider of comprehensive services for veterans in Indiana. HVAF’s pantry is available to any veteran in need of emergency food. Donors can contribute clothing, non-perishable food items, and hygiene products to the pantry, and volunteers are always needed to keep the pantry sorted and stocked all year long.
