During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Chrysalis Center is looking for an ongoing volunteer with some gardening/plant experience (it does not necessarily have to be experience with hydroponics) to help in Urban Roots, our hydroponic grow center, in which lettuce and basil are grown in water. You will help with planting, harvesting and maintaining the plants.
The produce grown in Urban Roots is used in La Cocina, our culinary arts training program; Freshplace, our fresh food, case management food pantry; and at the Homestead Farmers Market in the summer and fall.
You can choose a date and time to fit your schedule any day Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm - either once a week or every other week.
We will be observing strict social distancing, including wearing masks and gloves and limiting the number of people in the hydroponic garden at one time. We are looking for volunteers who are not in the high risk group for COVID-19 (over 60 years old or with a condition that affects the immune system).
