Whenever a household is displaced by a disaster, the Red Cross will begin a casework process with the individual or family to assess their needs and connect them to financial assistance and other community-based resources. With an average of 2 responses per day in Oregon and SW Washington, the need for volunteer support is constant.

The Red Cross is seeking volunteers who would like to work remotely to support victims of disasters by reviewing open cases on our RC Cares team. RC Cares team members will help by assessing open cases in our system to ensure a number of compliance factors. Volunteers are needed for rotating weekly coverage, but the daily commitment during the week is no more than 1 hour per day. Volunteers will be trained to learn our system and casework process. As cases open, team member will ensure that clients are getting the appropriate amount of financial support given our guidelines. This work can be done remotely, and flexibly timed each day around your schedule.

Volunteers are asked to commit a rotating schedule of one week on-call, per month, with a daily commitment of no more than 1 hour per day to review open disaster cases.

-Passion to help victims of disaster and act as a representative of the Red Cross in a professional and trustworthy manner.

This role ensures that victims of disaster are receiving the appropriate amount of financial assistance based off our their needs, as well as ensuring our donors contributions are being used responsibly. The RC Care team supports the ongoing recovery process of our clients following small and large scale disasters.
