Green Spaces Manager

AZSA Mission

Programs Overview

  • AZSA has five priorities: Conservation, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Food Systems, Urban Forestry, and Cities
  • Across the five priorities, there are individual projects

Role Purpose
The Green Spaces Manager position works with AZSA staff and volunteer staff across the AZSA priorities and projects that require the design and implementation of innovative green spaces.

Currently, there are two projects, but AZSA expects that this is a growing area of work. Further information will be provided during the interview.

  • The first project is to design the green spaces for a plot of land that will have two group homes for female veterans that have been subject to sexual assault. The spaces created will need to be thoughtful in creativity and innovation and the needs of those that will be utilizing those spaces.
  • The second project is to create a cutting-edge green space around the first 3D home being built in Tempe, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Design of green spaces for at least two AZSA projects
  • Work with AZSA project coordinators and external partners to ensure the designs meet the needs of those utilizing the green spaces
  • Support the implementation/installation of the green spaces

Ideal Skill Set

  • Background in permaculture, garden design, horticulture, and/or landscape architecture
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing new technologies for the creation of outdoor green spaces (e.g. vertical gardens)
  • Experience working with multiple partners
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently and as a team member
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters

Time Commitment: Approximately 5-10 hours per week

All AZSA positions are remote, with periodic fieldwork and other necessary in-person activities specific to the particular position.
