Project Overview

Bring creativity, skills, friends, family, and laughs to the monthly Community Farm Day every first Saturday of the month in Tassafaronga Park.

Volunteers will support by weeding, planting, harvesting, pruning, and learning lessons about sustainable agriculture and growing produce in East Oakland.

Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project (ANV) elevates inner-city life by challenging oppressive dynamics and environments through urban farming. Founded and led mainly by women of color, ANV creates a safe and creative outdoor space for 3,000+ youth and families in East Oakland, CA.

Project Requirements & Important Notes

Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, clothes they don't mind getting dirty, bring a reusable water bottle and a hat. Layers are recommended.

There are no bathrooms available for volunteer use.

Please do your part in keeping our community healthy. If you are immuno-compromised, at increased risk for severe illness, or feeling sick at all, please decline your registration to the event and register for a project at a less risky time. Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project (ANV) elevates life in the inner-city by challenging oppressive dynamics and environments through urban farming. Founded and led mainly by women of color from the surrounding neighborhood and larger community, ANV creates a safe and creative outdoor space for children, youth, and families in East Oakland, CA. Within this severely economically depressed neighborhood in the nation’s second most dangerous city, ANV engages and deepens their understanding of nutrition, food production, and healthy living as well as strengthens their ties to the community.
